To use Checkmark Plagiarism within Canvas, your Canvas Administrator will first need to configure the LTI 1.3 integration and generate API keys. This process ensures secure communication and proper functionality within your Canvas environment.
Once your Canvas Administrator has completed the LTI 1.3 and API key setup and provided us with the necessary keys, you can add Checkmark Plagiarism to your courses.
a) Navigate to Course Settings:
Log in to Canvas and enter the course you want to add Checkmark Plagiarism to.
Navigate to "Settings".
Then in Settings, go to the "Apps" tab
Click "View App Configurations"
b) Add New App:
Click "+ App"
Change "Configuration Type" to "By Client ID"
Enter the Client ID that your Canvas Administrator obtained during the LTI 1.3 setup and provided to you.
Once Checkmark Plagiarism is successfully added it is automatically added to new assignments with Submission Type: "File Upload".
When students submit through the Checkmark Plagiarism submission view, their submissions will automatically appear in the Canvas SpeedGrader™ as well as the Checkmark Plagiarism dashboard.
Students must submit their assignments through the Checkmark Plagiarism submission interface. It will open a Google Picker window that lets them choose a Google Docs™ from the account they are signed into.
For grading purposes, student submissions through Checkmark Plagiarism will always be correctly associated with their Canvas account in SpeedGrader. However, on the Checkmark Plagiarism dashboard, student identities are linked via their email addresses. While this typically means their school email, variations might occur if a student's Canvas-associated email differs from the one they use for the Checkmark Plagiarism service.
When setting up an assignment in Canvas that will use Checkmark Plagiarism, you must select 'File Upload' as the submission type. Even though students will submit via the Checkmark Plagiarism interface (which handles Google Docs™), Canvas needs to be configured for a file upload to enable the integration.
Once students have submitted their assignments through the Checkmark Plagiarism interface, you can access the Checkmark Plagiarism Assignment Dashboard directly from the Canvas assignment page. From there, you can view detailed plagiarism reports for each student.
