By using the Checkmark Plagiarism add-ons ("the Services") provided by Checkmark Plagiarism, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you disagree with any part of the terms, you may not use our Services.
2. Description of Service
The Checkmark Plagiarism add-on is a Google Docs™ add-on designed for academic integrity, allowing students to submit work and teachers to review submissions for potential plagiarism.
3. User Accounts and Eligibility
3.1 You must have a valid Google account to use the Service.
3.2 By using the Service, you represent that you have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.
4. Data Collection and Use
4.1 By using the Service, you consent to the collection and processing of data as described in our Privacy Policy.
4.2 You agree that we may collect metadata related to your document editing activities and conduct limited analysis of document content for plagiarism detection (Checkmark Plagiarism).
4.3 You retain all ownership rights to your content. Our use of your content is limited to the purposes described in our Privacy Policy.
5. User Responsibilities
5.1 You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account.
5.2 You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms.
5.3 You will not use the Service to violate any applicable laws or regulations.
5.4 For Checkmark Plagiarism users: Schools are responsible for obtaining necessary consents from students or their guardians for the use of the Service, as required by applicable laws and institutional policies.
6. Intellectual Property
6.1 The Service and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by Checkmark Plagiarism and are protected by international copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, and other intellectual property laws.
6.2 You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, create derivative works of, publicly display, publicly perform, republish, download, store, or transmit any of the material on our Service, except as incidental to normal web browsing or as expressly permitted in writing by Checkmark Plagiarism.
7. Termination
7.1 We may terminate or suspend your access to the Service immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any reason whatsoever, including without limitation if you breach the Terms.
7.2 You may discontinue use of the Service at any time.
8. Limitation of Liability
8.1 Checkmark Plagiarism shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, including without limitation, loss of profits, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, resulting from your access to or use of or inability to access or use the Service.
9. Disclaimer
9.1 Your use of the Service is at your sole risk. The Service is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis.
9.2 Checkmark Plagiarism does not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free.
10. Changes to Terms
10.1 We reserve the right to modify or replace these Terms at any time. If a revision is material, we will try to provide at least 30 days' notice prior to any new terms taking effect.
11. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of California, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
