1. Google API Services and Data Access

Our add-on uses the following Google API scopes:

Through these scopes, we access:

• Document revision history

• Document content (for analysis purposes only)

• User email addresses and name

Our add-on collects:

• Typing patterns and revision data (e.g., typing speed, deletion frequency, writing pauses)

• User email address and name

Checkmark Plagiarism uses this data solely for:

• Analyzing writing authenticity

• Providing your instructors with a review feature to assess your writing process

3. Your Data Protection

We take the protection of your data extremely seriously:

• We never use your submissions to train our AI models

• Unlike other services, we have no incentive to keep or use your writing samples

• Your submission data is only accessible to your authorized instructor

4. User Consent and Data Access

By installing and using our add-on, you consent to the data practices described in this policy. You grant permission for data access when you accept the Google OAuth screen during the add-on installation process.

5. Data Retention

• Your data is retained until:

  • You request its deletion

  • Your instructor deletes the assignment from their dashboard

  • You remove your submission

6. Data Access and Control

• Students: You can only access your own submissions

• Instructors: Have access to review work submitted by students enrolled in their class

• Researchers: Do not view any student-submitted text content

• Automated Processing: Your document content is processed automatically by our AI detection algorithms without human viewing

7. Data Storage and Security

• All data is stored securely on Google Cloud Storage™ and managed through Firestore™

• Data is encrypted in transit and at rest

• We implement industry-standard security measures and undergo regular security assessments as required by Google

8. Prohibited Uses

We strictly prohibit the use of your data for:

• Targeted advertising

• Selling to data brokers

• Providing to information resellers

• Determining credit-worthiness

• Lending purposes

• User advertisements

• Personalized advertisements

• Retargeted advertisements

• Interest-based advertisements

• Creating databases for purposes other than improving our service

Your submitted work is never used to train AI models and is never shared or read by anyone except your authorized instructor.
